THIS IS WHAT SCHOOL SHOULD FEEL LIKE.
Today’s learners need more than traditional schooling. They need an environment that nurtures creativity, resilience, and leadership—the hallmarks of the Acton model.
What is an Acton Academy?
Acton Academy is a place where learning looks very different from the traditional classroom. Instead of lectures and worksheets, learners move at their own pace using the latest technology while building responsibility, setting goals, and working as part of a team. Our students thrive because they’re empowered to think independently, solve real-world problems, and grow into motivated, lifelong learners.

Learning by Doing
We believe the best learning happens through experience. Whether it’s launching a small business, designing a tidepool habitat, producing a play, building a dream model school, or programming a robot, our learners are constantly applying knowledge in creative, hands-on ways. Guides don’t lecture; instead, they use the Socratic method—answering questions with thoughtful questions—to spark curiosity, sharpen critical thinking, and encourage meaningful dialogue.
Preparing for Life
Acton learners take ownership of their education and build the skills to lead themselves and others. Starting in middle school, they pursue apprenticeships with professionals in fields they’re passionate about—doctors, bakers, designers, attorneys, mechanics, and more. Along the way, they practice honesty, responsibility, hard work, kindness, and empathy. With strong character and a sense of purpose, Acton students are prepared not just for school, but for life.

The Three Pillars of Acton
1
Learn to
LEARN
We nurture self-driven learners who take charge of their own education. With guidance and encouragement, each child discovers their unique strengths and develops the skills to think critically, solve problems, and keep asking questions. By mastering core skills and building the confidence to explore new ideas, learners grow into lifelong students of the world.
2
Learn to
DO
Knowledge becomes powerful when it’s put into action. Through hands-on projects and immersive quests, learners step into real roles — as entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, and leaders — applying what they’ve learned in meaningful ways. By practicing skills in real-world contexts, they gain confidence, resilience, and the ability to tackle challenges beyond the classroom.
3
BE
Learn to
More than knowledge and skills, Acton is about character and purpose. Learners explore big questions — Who am I? Who do I want to become? — and build the habits and virtues that shape their lives. Through community, feedback, and real-world apprenticeships, they practice responsibility, empathy, and leadership, preparing to step into the world with confidence and purpose.
